West Vancouver is home to some of the most expensive homes in Metro Vancouver and is divided into 35 sub-areas but we’re focusing on the top 5.
So, let’s kick things off with our #5 neighbourhood, Dundarave. This charming neighbourhood has that village by the sea vibe. Maybe because it is a village by the sea. The heart of the neighbourhood is the Dundarave village. There are many high-end restaurants and shops but still a few throwbacks to help keep the quaint charm of yesteryear. You can walk along the Seawall from here all the way to Ambleside beach. The views of the ocean, Stanley Park, the Lionsgate bridge and downtown Vancouver are spectacular. The Beach house restaurant is undergoing a complete renovation and should be open shortly. This restaurant has always been a popular spot for both it’s food and the views. The West Vancouver Community Centre is also a fantastic amenity for everyone with everything from gymnastics to swimming. Stunning luxury homes and condominiums Stunning views. Who wouldn’t want to live here?
Our number 4 neighbourhood is Ambleside. Ambleside is gorgeous. It’s also where my office is. The beach and park are a massive draw for people. The newly constructed Grosvenor Ambleside is a collection of 98 unique residences with unparalleled attention to detail and world-class views. This full-block waterfront development is the culmination of a vision for Ambleside over ten years in the making. It has transformed the face of this neighbourhood. Once stuck in time, the area is now modern and vibrant. Ambleside is also home to the renowned Harmony Arts Festival in the summertime. Cafe Crema at 15th and Bellevue is a favourite spot for locals and us Re/MAX Masters agents who work halfway down the block. The highly popular Park Royal mall is also close by. So, if you’re in the mood to shop, it’s got everything you need. It also has the recently opened cineplex VIP cinemas as well.
Our number 3 neighbourhood is Whitby Estates. Whitby Estates is perched above the Upper Levels Hwy and is literally at the foot of Cypress Mountain. It is surrounded by Chelsea Park, Panorama Village, Westhill, and, Canterbury neighbourhoods. Phenomenal views and large estates are signatures of this neighbourhood. One drawback to these neighbourhoods above the Upper Levels Hwy is that there isn’t a lot of neighbourhood restaurants, coffee shops, and other amenities. This will all be changing over the next few years as the District of West Vancouver and British Pacific Properties bring the Cypress Village to life. British Pacific Properties currently has a few projects selling right now including Chippendale Mews and Mulgrave Park. Coming soon will be Uplands and the future Cypress Village Park. It will be West Vancouver’s newest mixed-use village centre and the District’s first above the upper levels highway.
Our number 2 neighbourhood is Cedardale. This unassuming neighbourhood boasts serene streets and cul-de-sacs with lovely detached homes. On some streets, you feel like you’re driving down a county lane. If you like privacy, there are many gated homes in this area. This may be a small and unassuming neighbourhood but many families are choosing to live here right now. It could be that this neighbourhood offers you the feeling of being much further out of the city but you have immediate access to the Upper Levels Hwy and Lionsgate Bridge. And you’re just a short stroll down to the Park Royal mall.
And, our number 1 neighbourhood is Rockridge. Perched just below the Upper Levels Hwy with commanding views of the ocean and city. It’s no wonder many families are choosing to call Rockridge home right now. This neighbourhood offers families stunning detached view homes, along with fabulous schools such as the Caulfield Elementary School and Rockridge Secondary School. It also has the Caulfield Shopping centre nearby. Rockridge has immediate access to the Upper Levels Hwy and is only a 7-10 minute drive to Horseshoe Bay and the Ferry Terminal. Rockridge also sits right beside the Caulfield and Upper Caulfield neighbourhoods which are another 2 terrific areas to live.
